1. Today I got to work with a hygienist I used to work with at Dodge St. Melissa was sick (I'm not glad Melissa was sick) so Londa filled in for her, and it was fun catching up on what's going on with everyone at Dodge St. (even though Londa is no longer working there either.) Londa is working at an office that uses the same software I use, so Londa was able to show me a few more applications that will help me out and make my records a little more complete.
2. My office people found a picture of a winter knit headband they wanted me to make for them. So I tried it out and it turned out cute. Carolyn and Abigael will get some yarn in colors they like, and I'll knit them each a headband. They are cute. I'll take a picture sometime.
3. I really enjoy my BNI business networking group I meet with on Thursday mornings at 7. Once I sang a silly song for my 60 second presentation about my business. So today, the 10 minute presenter, at the conclusion of his monologue on Chem-Dry carpet cleaning, did a hilarious rap song he wrote about carpet cleaning. He said I inspired him with my song about dental work. We laugh a lot for a bunch of people up so early in the morning. It's a great group.
4. We have a great recycling system where we live. We have a regular trash receptacle for ordinary trash, and a second one for recyclable items. We just have to throw in all the recyclable items together: glass, paper, plastics . . . no separating things out. We recycle more than we throw away.
5. I am thankful I live in the age of the iPhone. What a marvel! Something smaller than an old transistor radio (which were the marvels of my time as a teenager!) that can hold my entire music collection, movies, TV shows, all of my address book contacts, scriptures, other books, a camera, a grocery list, a To-Do list, games, an alarm clock, a dictionary, the internet, a phone, a compass, maps of anywhere in the country, several musical instruments (piano, drums, ocarina), a music store, all of my business cards, radio stations, a knot-tying guide, all of my genealogy information, e-mail, text mail, a voice recorder, photographs, a mileage log, a flashlight, The Weather Channel weather report, a place to log daily caloric intake, Facebook, The Omaha World Herald newspaper, The Yellow Pages, and lots more. I never would have believed something like this could exist when I was younger. Even sci-fi writers wouldn't have dreamed up anything like this.
